Self-Care Guide for your Next Staycation

As some of you know, 2018 was a pretty tough year for me. Yet, along with loss came a new lease on life. One of the biggest shifts for me has been taking a wellness approach to many aspects of my life. I meditate daily (or try to), I’m learning the power of manifestation, and I’m practicing patience with myself above all.

As such, I’ve become interested in brands that are truly dedicated to helping people like me (and you!) go back to the basics so to speak. I’ve partnered with La Pixie Wellness because they are one of these brands dedicated to wellness via natural alternatives, inspired by both science and imagination. After scrolling through their products, I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you.

Whether you’re taking a staycation with your bestie or your significant other…or heck, by your own damn self, these products will put you into the pampering mood.

Aromatherapy Massage Candles

La Pixie Wellness has several aromatherapy massage candles, so it’s really a matter of personal preference. Each scented candle generates an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity. They’re also all-natural, vegetable-based soy derivatives and you can even use them as body oil if you so please.

I personally love the Ocean Breeze scented candles (pictured below) because they make me think of summers at the beach with my family growing up. Other scents include bamboo tree, shea butter, and bourbon & leather soy.

‘Chill’ bath salts

I don’t have a bathtub at my apartment in Barcelona so anytime I check into a hotel that has one, I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. The bath salts from La Pixie Wellness are made with malva flower, calendula and lavender flowers as well as Himalayan pink salt, jojoba oil, essential oils and vitamin E. After a long day at the office (or just in general), this will be the perfect way to relax and unwind.

Ecuadorian tea blends

Most hotels already offer tea in rooms, but I’ve found that it’s usually black tea or green tea. Both are great, but for a wellness staycation, I’d suggest bringing your own premium tea so you can really detox and reset.

La Pixie sells premium organic Ecuadorian tea blends. It’s light and with a nice flavor, making it a great complement to meals or as a standalone beverage. The blend is made with Piper Carpunya or Guaviduca (known by the locals)—a plant used by farmers and indigenous people from Ecuador for thousands of years.

It’s been known to help relieve ailments like tension, cramps, abdominal pain and discomfort. The tea comes unsweetened, so feel free to add honey or agave if you need a little sweetness to it.

Lava stone pendant

Not much to say about this one, other than it’s pretty and is a nice little treat to gift yourself during a staycation or night at home. Earthy, feminine, and cute, it’s a go-to summer necklace staple.

The black cord is made of hypoallergenic waxed cotton and is adjustable. For added effect, add a couple drops of essential oils to the necklace.

Sleep aid spray

If your hot bubble bath and soothing tea don’t do the trick, get sleepy with a puff of Somnia, La Pixie’s sleep aid spray. Somnia creates a peaceful environment, whether at home or at a hotel. It’s made with pure essential oils, witch hazel and distilled water. You can spray it on your pillow, sheets, blanket or even a stuffed animal (yes, I sometimes travel with one)!
