Bohemian Trails Wins Travel + Leisure SMITTY Award

Earlier today Travel + Leisure announced the winners for their third annual Social Media in Travel + Tourism Awards (SMITTYs) and Bohemian Trails made the cut! The blog was awarded with “Best Overall Use of Social Media by an Independent Travel Photo-Journalist/Videographer.”

Award Winning Travel Blogs

I’m beyond thrilled to be among so many other talented writers and brands like @AmateurTraveler@Virgin_Atlantic@Expedia@gadventures and @peek. It’s also really great to see some of the other brands that I’ve worked with including @VisitSweden@WestJet and @FairfieldHotels. Since I consider myself more like a writer than a blogger or photographer, it was a pleasant surprise to be awarded primarily for the photos I post to social media.

Here’s a snapshot of some of their award announcements form this morning. I was actually boarding a plane from Portland to New York City right as the winners started to be announced so it was nice to see all the nice tweets and emails from people showing their support.

Bohemian Trails Wins Travel + Leisure SMITTY Award

Although I’m rarely a luxury traveler when exploring new destinations on my own, I’ve always been a fan of Travel + Leisure as a brand and as a leader in the travel space. Everything from the inspirational magazine covers to the thought-provoking and sometimes quirky features, I always pick up a copy any change I get. Winning an award from their talented team of judges is truly humbling and I’m so glad that they saw some value in my dedication for Google+, a platform very few people have the patience for.

Anyway, make sure to check out all the winners this year and thanks again for all the well wishes and support! I haven’t won anything in quite awhile so I have to admit, it feels good!

Here’s Why I Want to Visit Kerala (and you should, too)!

Every so often, I write about a destination I haven’t been to.
