My Five London Obsessions

I write about London a lot, partly because I briefly lived in the Rainy City but also because it is one of the most inspiring cities for finding global art and culture. On my recent trip to Europe, I managed to squeeze in a few days in London somewhere in between Berlin and Paris. It was a short trip but it was great seeing old friends, meeting new ones and simply wandering through my favorite neighborhoods.

Here are some of my favorite London Pastimes:

1) Urban Nature

I loved watching this mother swan lead her little ones through the St. James’ Park Lake. It’s a short walk from Buckingham Palace and a scenic way to get from here to Westminster.

2) Colorful Markets

We all know I love a good flea and luckily London has several. I’m tied between Old Spitalfields Market and Notting Hill’s Portobello Market (pictured below).

3) Pub Food

Britain may not be known for amazing cuisine but one thing they have mastered is the art of Fish & Chips. Below is one of my favorite pubs in Leicester Square. Paired with a house cider, this combination is unbeatable.

4) Street Art

Similar to the street of the same name in NYC, London’s Rivington Street is located in the hip Shoreditch neighborhood and filled with local art, fun bars and other popular local spots.

5) Peter Pan

No trip to London is complete without visiting my childhood friend, Peter in Kensington Gardens. Sir J.M. Barrie’s famous creation also happens to be my favorite book regardless of my age.

Such a great city! Can’t believe I missed Peter Pan, though… Have to go back very soon, I guess :)
