Finnish Nature at its Finest

After a wonderful trip to Norway last February, I had a feeling Finland would be just as inspiring. With lakes, flowers, fields and rainbows making several surprise appearances throughout my trip, I wanted to highlight a few of Finland’s natural elements. Here’s a look at some landscapes you can expect to see here.

SeaHelsinki is technically a peninsula, meaning that water surrounds the city on three sides. During the winter, the sea often freezes but during my summer trip, there was nothing covering the water but complete sunshine.

Parks – Beside the sea in the south of Helsinki is Ullanlinnaa, a beautiful and very posh residential neighborhood where architecture and green grass reign supreme.

Lakes – Finland is known for their countless lakes and the one located in Sodankylä is no exception. This photo was taken at midnight and is a great example of how light it is during the Midnight Sun time of year.

Flowers – Taken in the notoriously bohemian Helsinki district of Kallio, we stumbled upon this field of dark purple flowers. The unique color and thick texture of the really stood out among other fields I’ve seen while traveling.

Rainbows – As if Finland could not get more visually stunning, our second rainbow in one week appeared during our drive from Sodankylä back to Rovaniemi.
